Iraq committed to providing natural gas to Kuwait (03/08/05)

Iraq has expressed commitment to a draft protocol on providing Kuwait with natural gas, according to reports from the Ministry of Energy.

Iraq will export natural gas to Kuwait

The Kuwait-Iraqi Higher Technical Committee held its 6th meeting earlier this month in Kuwait, and discussed the draft protocol, according to which Iraq will export an average of 35 million cubic feet of natural gas on a daily basis to Kuwait, for a five-year period, the statement added.

The protocol includes a memorandum of understanding and two other agreements, including an undisclosed one. The two sides will sign the protocol during the committees' upcoming meeting.

Kuwait is expected to get 200 million cubic feet of Iraqi natural gas during the second phase of the project, the energy ministry statement added.
