$1 billion bid made for oil refinery (02/08/05)


The Iraq Ministry of Oil has invited bids to build a new $1 billion refinery south of Baghdad with a capacity of 140,000 bpd, said minister Ibrahim Bahr Al Uloum.

 
Iraq is spending $300 million on imports
 
A $400m refinery near Sulaimaniyah in the Kurdish area of northern Iraq with a capacity of 70,000 bpd is also up for tender.

The minister said the country is spending $300 million to import refined oil products in the face of fuel shortages.
