Iraqi experts arrive for job training at Lukoil (29/05/05)

On 25 May the first group of Iraqi experts arrived in Volgograd and Kogalym for internships at Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft and Lukoil-West Siberia.

Lukoil will provide internships for Iraqis

The internship is based on the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation, signed in March 2004 in Baghdad between Lukoil President Vagit Alekperov and Iraqi Oil Minister Ibrahim Bahr al-Uloum.

In accordance with the Memorandum, Lukoil will provide internships for Iraqis at the company training centres and production facilities.

Last year, 100 people were trained; 150 Iraqis will hold Lukoil internship positions this year and for the next four years.

The one-month internship program provides for theoretical and practical training for power, oil and gas production engineers; oilfield and power equipment maintenance technicians; and water separation and desalting unit operators. Western Siberia (Kogalym, Langepas, Uray, Pokachi) will host 52 interns; 30 will stay in Volgograd Region (Kotovsky District).

In addition, as part of the humanitarian aid program for the restoration of Iraqi Ministry assets in petroleum and state oil companies, two contracts have been signed for the supply of ambulance vehicles, excavators and a forklift before the end of June.

Equipment will be delivered from Turkey to the town of Zakho in northeastern Iraq. Water and sulfuric acid tank vehicles, caterpillar based equipment, hoists and hydraulic cranes will also be supplied.
