MTC Atheer launches service in Baghdad (29/03/05)


MTC Atheer is proud to announce the launch of its services into the heart of Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. MTC Atheer part of the MTC Group of companies, in accordance to the agreement signed on 22 December 2003 was granted a license to operate in the southern region of Iraq.
 
MTC Atheer extends services to Baghdad
 
MTC Atheer completed the roll out of 1,800 kilometres network coverage along the entire southern region and on its completion has been granted permission to extend its services into Baghdad as per the agreement with the Ministry of Telecom in Iraq.

This is a momentous day for MTC Atheer and for Baghdad citizens as it will allow them to have quality mobile services in a region that has very weak or no alternative services. Commenting on the launch Mr. Ali A Dahwi, president of MTC Atheer stated: "Presenting the most distinctive services is the focus of our attention.

"We do not just want to provide coverage but to develop and enhance this coverage to meet and win the hearts of our customers."

Already MTC Atheer has more than 300,000 customers in Southern Iraq and is providing not only traditional voice services but also SMS, GPRS, and roaming services to various countries frequented by Iraqis. Al Dahwi added that "we shall continue to build the largest network to secure complete and unique coverage in accordance with our two year license contract agreement."

MTC Atheer prides itself in the fact that is has carried all this out with a 100 per cent Iraqi workforce. This commitment towards hiring and training nationals is part of the values that MTC Group holds in all its operations across five countries which include Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain and Lebanon.
