Iraq receives 145,800 US hard red winter wheat (15/04/08)

Iraq's Umm Qasr port has taken delivery of around 145,800 tonnes of mainly US hard red winter wheat mainly from last year's purchases, officials and shipping sources said.

They said the port was unloading three vessels carrying 145,800 tonnes of US hard red winter wheat and Iraq's Grain Board was expecting another three vessels carrying 150,000 tonnes of US wheat to arrive by mid-May.

One other ship, which arrived on Sunday but had still not begun discharging, had another 51,400 tonnes cargo of US hard red winter wheat, shippers said.
