Iraq orders four more Bombardier airliners (14/04/08) Aircraft maker Bombardier Inc. said it has won an order for four CRJ900 jets valued at $159 million from the Iraqi government as the war-torn country tries to rebuild civilian airline service.

		The order is the fulfillment of an option to buy four more aircraft after the Iraqi government bought six of the jets for $239 million on March 13, Montreal-based Bombardier said in a statement. Iraq could possibly buy another 10 of the 88-seat regional jets in a second option that would be valued at about $414 million, the company said. Bombardier did not say who would use the aircraft.
State-owned Iraqi Airways agreed to buy 40 planes from Boeing Co. and six from Bombardier as part of a plan to improve service, an Iraqi government spokesperson said in February. Orders for the CRJ series aircraft now total 570, with 417 delivered as of Jan. 31, Bombardier said yesterday. Source: thestar.com
