Iraqi government allocates $11 million for Um Qasr Port docks (31/10/05)


The Iraqi government allocated USD 11 million to complete the construction of two docks in Um Qasr Port in Basra in southern Iraq.

A cabinet source said in a press statement Saturday that the Iraqi Premier, Dr Ibrahim Al-Jaafari has recently approved the allocation of $11 million from the budget of the higher construction council to complete the establishment of two new docks in Um Qasr Port.

The Iraqi Prime Minister paid on 23 October a visit to Basra and inspected Um Qasr Port during which he was briefed on the obstacles and means to expand its capacity.
