Chinese companies eager to drill for oil in Iraq (20/10/05)


An Iraqi refinery executive told US industry leaders that the Chinese companies are ready to drill for oil in the Iraqi soil American companies fear to tread, Reuters reported.
 
Iraq continues to gain investment in oil
 
The general manager of Midland Refineries Co/Daura Refinery who has managed the refinery in Baghdad through the US-led invasion, said US refining companies have come to Iraq to help to the country's refineries get back on their feet.

The manager said that he recently met with Chinese oil company representatives and they showed their eagerness to develop Iraq's oil reserves, which are estimated to be second only to Saudi Arabia's.
