Iraqis trained in Iraq environmental health issues (19/10/05)

Ten Iraqi lab technicians have received laboratory equipment training for environmental health monitoring. Two technicians from each of the five Environmental Health Education and Resource Centers (EHERCs) in Iraq participated in the 10-day training led by Suny Stony Brook, a partner in the US Agency for International Development (USAID) Higher Education and Development (HEAD) program.

Iraq scientists are to research health issues more effectively

The air and water quality monitoring equipment, itself supplied through the HEAD program, will enable Iraqi scholars and scientists to more effectively research and study environmental health issues in Iraq.

The knowledge gained during this course will enable the Iraqi participants to operate laboratory equipment at their respective centers in Iraq, and to teach other lab technicians to do the same.
