Kuwaiti team for Kuwaiti-Iraqi commission formed (22/09/05)


Energy Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahd Al-Sabah issued a decision on Wednesday forming the Kuwaiti team that would be part of a Kuwaiti-Iraqi team to be tasked with specifying rights of the two neighbouring states in border oil fields.
 
Kuwait and Iraq will provide joint security
 

A statement released by the Information Petroleum Department and the public relations division of the ministry said the Kuwaiti side would be headed by Ali Bin Sabt.

The members are the executive assisstant for exploration and production development of Kuwait Oil Company Khaled Al-Smaiti and the manager of the development of the northern oil fields of the KOC, Badriah Hassan Ferhad.

The team also includes the director of planning and international relations at the energy ministry, Ahmad Abdullah Al-Sairafi, the director of the legal affairs at the KOC Imad Ahmad Al-Omair and the supervisor of traps engineering Ghaleb Naaman Abdel Latif.

The common team would work out mechanisms for safeguarding the rights of the two countries in the border oil fields. The Kuwaiti members of the joint team held a meeting at the ministry's headquarters on 14 September, during which they reviewed draft plans for the mission and examined other states' experience in this field.

The statement affirmed the State of Kuwait's keenness on safeguarding the rights of the two countries in the border oil fields.
