The Independent Electoral Commission of Iraq (IECI) agreed on a $46 million logistic support contract for the upcoming referendum in mid-October and elections in December.
The council did not reveal the name of the company that signed the contract, but asserted that the goal of the project is to guarantee the reception, storing, and distributing of election and referendum supplies.
The council added that the contract would also guarantee the mobility of election supplies from two international sources through a logistic station in Sharjah, UAE, and then to 20 storage facilities in Iraqi governorates and an additional reserve storage.
