Syria and Iraq sign cooperation protocol (12/09/05)


Syria and Iraq have signed a joint cooperation protocol between Syrian Chambers of Commerce Federation and Baghdad's Chamber of Commerce with the aim of deepening ties between the two states as well as enhancing the economic and social relations.
 
Syria and Iraq look to better cooperation
 
The protocol stressed the necessity of developing the economic relations between Syria and Iraq as well as expanding their fields in different sectors to reach joint mechanism formulas that enhance the Syrian companies' role in cooperation with Iraqi companies in developing the Iraqi economy and expanding its trade cooperation base.

It also provided for establishing a free trade zone between the two states and preserving the cooperation relations between Syrian and Iraqi companies and merchants.

Iraq and Syria will be exchanging delegations, missions and businessmen as well as establishing joint fairs and offering facilitations to develop joint relations and activities. The protocol stipulated to exchange help and consultations in domain of joint projects, facilitate transporting productions elements and identify investment fields and opportunities as well as the related legislations.

Both sides stressed the necessity of developing and expanding trade, industrial and tourism cooperation between the two states.
