Russia and Iraq are to maintain cooperation in all fields, including in the oil sector, said Jalal Al-Mashta, an adviser to the Iraqi president.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin is looking to expand cooperation with Iraq

Al-Mashta reported “There are no areas that are closed for cooperation between Russia and Iraq, including in the oil sector.” Baghdad seeks to develop relations with Russia in all fields, Al-Mashta said.

The Iraqi president’s adviser is currently in Moscow to take part in a round-table conference, “Russia and Iraq - Prospects for Cooperation”.

In his words, “Russia and Iraq have a historical potential to expand relations. Russian specialists worked well in Iraq, primarily in the electric power industry. We’d like to continue such cooperation.”
