Ghazi Yawar
President

Hailing from Mosul, Iraqi-Kurdistan, the 45-year old Sunni was educated in the US and has strong ties to Washington. He is the current president of the Iraqi Governing Council (IGC).

Iyad Allawi
Prime Minister

The leader of the Iraqi National Accord, a group formed by Iraqi exiles, he has historically been close to the US.

Ibrahim Jaafari
Vice President

A spokesman for prominent Shia party the Islamic Daawa Party, he is one of the presidents of the IGC.

Rowsch Shaways
Vice President

President of the Kurdish National Assembly and a member of the Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP).

Barham Saleh
Deputy Prime Minister for National Security

Prime Minister of the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) and a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).

Hoshyar Zebari
Foreign Minister

A member of the KDP, he remains in his current position. Educated in the UK and Jordan.

Finance Minister
Adil Abdel-Mahdi

A senior official from Sciri, one of the two main Shia parties.

Hazem Shalan al-Khuzaei
Defence Minister

He remains in his position.

Minister of Interior

Thamir Ghadbhan
Minister of Oil

Promoted from the position of advisor, he replaces Ibrahim Bahr al-Ulum.

Malik Dohan al-Hassan
Minister of Justice

A Sunni Muslim, he serves as president of the Iraqi Bar Association and head of the task force on compensation for victims of the former regime.

Bakhityar Amin
Minister of Human Rights

Acknowledged as an expert on human rights, he is from Kirkuk, Iraqi-Kurdistan. Educated in France and Sweden.

Ayham al-Samarrai
Minister of Electricity

A member of the Iraqi Independent Democrats, he remains in his current position.

Alaa Abdessaheb al-Alwan
Minister of Health

A former World Health Organisation official, he replaces Dr Khudair Abbas.

Mohammed Ali Hakim
Minister of Communication

Thought to be related to Abdul Aziz al-Hakim, head of Sciri and a member of the IGC, he replaces Haider Al-Abbadi.

Omar Farouk
Minister of Housing

He replaces Baqr Jabr Al Zubaidi.

Nesreen Mustafa Berwari
Minister of Public Works

Educated at Harvard, she is the former KRG minister of reconstruction and development and has also worked for the UNHCR and other UN agencies in Iraqi-Kurdistan.

Rashad Mandan Omar
Minister of Science and Technology

A Sunni Muslim and a Turkmen, originally from Kirkuk, he retains his current position. A qualified engineer, he has spent the last five years working on airport construction in Dubai.

Mahdi al-Hafez
Minister of Planning

A member of the Iraqi Independent Democrats and former Iraqi ambassador to the UN. Remains in current position.

Mohammed al-Joubri
Minister of Trade

He replaces Ali Abd al-Amir Allawi.

Ali Faik Alghaban
Minister of Sport and Youth

A Shia Muslim and Sciri supporter, he remains in his position.

Louei Hatim Sultan al-Aris
Minister of Transportation

Replaces Behnam Zayya Bulis.

Judge Wael Abdel-Latif
Minister of Provincial Affairs

Elected as Governor of Basra by the interim local council in July last year, he is a former member of the IGC member. He is a qualified civil and criminal lawyer.

Nermin Othman
Minister of Women's Affairs

Minister of Immigration and Refugees

Replaces Muhammad Jassim Khudayr.

Latif Rashid
Minister of Water Resources

A former PUK spokesman in London, he maintains his existing position.

Leila Abdul-Latif
Minister of Labour

Replaces Sami al-Majun.

Sami Mudahfar
Minister of Education

Promoted from the position of deputy minister, he is a former president of Baghdad University and one of Iraq's most senior biochemists. Replaces Alladin Abd al-Sahib al-Alwan.

Tahir al-Bakaa
Minister of Higher Education

Sawsan Sherif
Minister of Agriculture

Promoted from the position of deputy minister, she replaces Abd al-Amir Rahima al-Abbud. Has also worked for the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation.

Mufid Mohammad Jawad al-Jazairi
Minister of Culture

A Shia Muslim and member of the Iraqi Communist Party, he maintains his existing position.

Hajim al-Hassani
Minister of Industry

Replaces Muhammad Tawfiq Rahim.

Mahmoud Farhad Othman
Minister of State

A former leader of the Kurdish Socialist Party and member of the IGC member, he stood as a presidential candidate in Iraqi Kurdistan's first elections in 1992.
